Growing up as youth in Philadelphia I did not have the most nutritional foods around me. I remember nights in front of the television with my favorites, Grilled Cheese,Top Ramen, TV dinners, boxes of cereal, frozen minute cheesesteaks, and fast food.
Gucci, Chanel, Versace, Balenciaga, these are all names of designer brands that my students believe are the key to prove you have success. They believe if they have these brands they have "money" and they will be viewed by their peers as having status.
Rock to the Future has been around since 2010 and they have made it their mission to provide free access to music programs in order to combat the inequalities that exist within our neighborhoods. A long with all of the life skills one can learn through music education, Rock to the Future also helps students with school work and college readiness.
