Social Media Day PHL 2024 Recap

Have you ever had the opportunity to experience Social Media Day? We Love Philly had the chance to partner with Comcast to attend Social Media Day 2024!

Social Media Day is the biggest gathering of communications specialists in the Philadelphia area. It’s a day dedicated to digital marketing, public relations, email marketing, and other communication practices. The event took place at the Comcast Technology Center in Center City, Philadelphia. It is a massive venue and very exciting to experience for the first time.

AI and Social Media

The first session we attended was, “AI and Social Media” by Canva; Social Media Manager, Lauren Freund. Canva is a tool we all use often and hearing about all the new AI tools; Magic Studio was interesting. My key takeaway was AI is just a tool like any other, it’s not going to replace creativity. We can use AI to improve our workflow and become more efficient. In the end it’s all about how you interact and view new things.

AI is a tool used for optimized Work Efficiency

      • When you have a following that supports you, it becomes unnecessary to always give a response to negativity; Your audience will defend you.

    • Instead of dismissing the negativity, attempt to see you can improve; Become able to take constructive criticism.

    Building a Strong Voice

    The Final Session we attended was, “The Building Blocks for a Strong Voice on LinkedIn” featuring Emily Peterson – LinkedIn.

    Overall we all enjoyed the presentations and being able to be present during the event. As students learning about Social Media marketing the sessions were very enlightening;

        • AI is not a replacement for ingenuity and creative thinking.

        • AI won’t be a better Social Media Manager than you.

      Beyond The Like Button

      The Second Session we attended was, “Beyond the Like Button: Cultivating Civic Pride and Advocacy on Social Media” featuring Anthony P. Sorrentino, Kimberly McGlonn, and Sami Aziz. This session had an interesting topic and discussion; what goes on beyond the like button and how the panelists feel about certain responses to their media. Furthermore they all talk about their pride as a Philadelphia citizen.
